NDI-RS Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) 'Waste Watch' System
Many communities have recycling facilities that will accept household waste.
In some areas, commercial vehicles and large trailers, regardless of the type of waste, are not allowed to tip household waste at recycling centers unless they have a valid permit/voucher.
The permit/voucher system is designed to prevent commercial waste being disposed of at these centers and to ensure that businesses meet the proper costs of disposing of their waste. It also prevents people from outside the district dumping their commercial waste without paying.
NDI-RS "WASTE WATCH" System supplies a cost-effective means of managing and enforcing the legal disposal of waste by:
- Using ALPR to record the number of times a vehicle uses a recycling center(s)
- Providing a central database that will store all vehicle records
- Providing an automated method of issuing permits/vouchers via the Internet
- Providing an automated method for commercial companies to pay for permits/vouchers via the Internet
- Freeing staff at waste sites from having to check the credentials of suspect vehicles
- Providing a 'Managed System' reducing cost and management overhead
- Giving the ability to share data between local authorities, preventing companies from fraudulently obtaining permits/vouchers
