Cameras help police find cars

SARASOTA - The police officer did not see the stolen SUV, but his cameras did.
The high-tech cameras on top of police Officer John Lake's patrol car were scanning license plates of other vehicles on the road, looking for stolen cars whose tags had been entered into a state and national database.
Friday night was the first hit for the Automated License Plate Recognition system.
