NDI-RS provides fixed site ANPR solutions to the most prestigious sites globally. These include the London and Manchester ‘Rings of Steel’ which protect the heart of these city centres.
The NDI-RS fixed site ANPR system is capable of recognising and processing vehicle number plates travelling at very high speed and in high density traffic such as motorways and dual-carriageways. The NDI-RS ANPR technology can also be ‘superimposed’ on to existing CCTV infrastructure, using existing cameras and control room infrastructure, which is a highly cost-effective way of delivering the ANPR benefits to a town or city centre.
In a typical fixed-site system, our C3 series ANPR cameras with integrated overview cameras and infra red cameras can be permanently installed overlooking the vehicle carriageway. The cameras are then connected to a dedicated roadside or pole-mounted ANPR computer or plate recognition unit (PRU) such as an NDI-RS Sabre, Shadow or Scorpion. This hardware will be loaded with the TALON recognition software. The PRU is normally contained in a secure environmentally conditioned cabinet at the roadside or safely mounted on a pole or gantry.
The final element of the ANPR system is communication from the roadside back to the CCTV control rooms or operations office. This is achieved using ‘line’-based systems such as fibre optic transmission, telecom circuits or using wireless technology such as GPRS / 3G, or WiFi. When vehicles of interest pass the ANPR camera's field of view the system will alarm and alert the operator when a ‘hotlist’ match occurs on the database. The database also lets the user search all retained vehicle records, ideal for post-incident enquiries.
The NDI-RS fixed site ANPR solution is designed to monitor sites, particularly those of a critical nature and read high volumes of number plates at locations such as motorways, bridges, tunnels and key road junctions or key points of interest.
