The NDI-RS Shadow' is a rugged roadside ANPR processor unit designed to withstand extreme environmental conditions and execute ‘on the spot’ roadside processing of number plates. The system comprises of a shoe box sized computer running the latest TALON SP ANPR software and a Windows operating system. The NDI-RS Shadow is designed to fit inside existing street side furniture such as CCTV poles and service cabinets.'Rugged' roadside processor for reduced installation and connectivity costs
The key advantage of the Shadow system is the reduced installation and maintenance costs, by eliminating the need to install and maintain expensive fibre optic or wireless transmission media to send raw video to a central processing site. The transmission of good quality live video can only be achieved with certain technologies that are costly to install and maintain.
The NDI-RS Shadow system has 8 camera inputs and the video is processed by the ANPR software at the roadside and therefore only data packets such as the registration 'plate patch' image and the overview JPEG image are sent to the central site via a choice of GSM / GPRS / 3G, WiFi, dedicated fibre or BT circuits for example. The packet size of each individual read is minimal meaning that the cost to send ANPR data and images is very economical.
Key Features
- Rugged ‘zero’ maintenance construction : Manufactured from heavy duty aluminium with an integrated cooling fan, minimising the temperature, number of moving parts and maintenance requirements. Large heat sinks also protect the system from temperature extremes. Engineered for extreme conditions – designed and tested to operate in extreme heat variations.Key internal parts are protected using dampers, preventing vibration damage from passing vehicles.
- Small in size, big in power : The size of the shadow unit (195mm x 107mm x 268mm) offers flexibility in deployment combined with in-built mounting brackets. Fitted with a Intel Core Duo M Processor each Shadow unit can process 4 'Dual' ANPR cameras simultaneously.
- Well connected : The unit comes with a host of interfaces and connections for 'live time' data transfer.
- Alarm monitoring/reporting : Software to monitor and detect internal failure e.g. camera / video failure, over heating, CPU and ANPR performance degradation. External alarm monitoring via hardware interface fortamper alarms, mains failure, UPS shut down, cabinet temperature and communication failure via internal GSM / GPRS / 3G modem.
- Secure : Message queuing software with built in encryption and guaranteed message delivery. Image signing with authentication signature prevents evidence tampering. Block Cipher (RC2, DES, 3DES, AES and stream cipher (RC4) algorithms are supported.
