TALON ANPR for Enforcement, Surveillance and Intelligence Gathering
NDI-RS is currently engaged in the provision of ANPR to a number of Police Forces and Government Agencies both in the UK and Internationally. NDI-RS acquired the businesses ("Appian Technology Plc") and ("Genesis UK Ltd") in December 2008 and is still the only ANPR supplier to have equipped every Police Force in England and Wales.
The high accuracy and speed of the TALON ANPR system makes NDI-RS the first choice for those customers who require a high performance ANPR system capable of capturing number plate recognition on motorways and high speed dual-carriageways. Whether deployed as a portable unit, mobile in-vehicle unit or fixed site installation TALON is the ANPR software of choice for mission-critical sites. NDI-RS has been chosen to install systems at multiple UK and international port installations, numerous international airports, a large number of the UK mainline railway stations and many more critical locations. Importantly NDI-RS provides ANPR to The City of London and Manchester (Rings of Steel). These sites are mission critical ANPR deployments and highlight the quality and accuracy of the NDI-RS ANPR solution.
"ANPR enables us to turn the tables on the criminals. Instead of the criminals creating fear, I want to make them fearful of using the roads. And if they do venture out I want them to know that ANPR increases significantly the chances that they will identified, stopped and arrested"...Hazel Blears, MP.
The NDI-RS TALON ANPR Engine: sophisticated, user friendly software for fixed, mobile and portable ANPR solutions
NDI Recognition Systems has gained extensive experience and knowledge within the Police and Law Enforcement sector through employing staff directly from these industries and by supporting a prestigious customer base. Over the years many of the ANPR products have been jointly designed in consultation with the Police Service to provide functionality and specifications that is needed for efficient ANPR usage. NDI-RS are currently engaged in the provision of ANPR to a large number of UK and International Police Forces and Government agencies.
The TALON ANPR application software allows local and national databases to be interrogated based on the plate read for detection and identification of stolen and wanted vehicles.
When an entry is stored to the database, an image of the plate from the recognition camera is stored at the same time. The system can be configured to show an additional larger image called an overview image to enable the operator to verify the make, model, colour and vehicle type.
Hot Lists
An unlimited number of hotlist databases can be used , namely:
- PNC Extract
- An extract of all vehicles of interest from the Police National Computer.
- DVLA
- Records of un-taxed vehicles from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
- VOSA
- Records of vehicles without MOT from the Vehicle and Operator Service Agency (VOSA)
- Local Hot Lists
- Hot lists of up to 50,000 entries can be created, edited and imported
- Bulk-loaded Hot lists
- Large Hot lists of more than 50,000 entries can be imported.
TALON can also be connected to a remote hotlist database (e.g. the Police National Computer) and perform live checks for each plate against the remote database. This connection can use an arbitrary barer, e.g. a GSM / GPRS / WIFI modem.
If a GSM / GPRS modem is fitted, the system can send SMS pager messages for each hotlist hit match. The GPRS modem can also be used to provide over-the-air updates to the hot list databases.
VISCE Back Office Facility (BOF)
The NDI-RS VISCE Back Office Software is a web based database application designed specifically to interface to the Police Service ANPR software used at the roadside to capture number plates. The back office software provides a number of functions including an interface into the Police National Computer and the Driver Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) via third party software applications.
